Frequently Asked Questions
Telehealth and EcoTherapy
1. Do you take insurance?
Currently, Dive Counseling and Wellness does not take insurance. Within 48 hours of submitting your contact request, you will be scheduled for a complimentary phone consultation. During this no-cost call, a clinician will connect with you to discuss the areas you’d like to focus on in therapy and your goals for the therapeutic process. This conversation will also cover fees, availability, and scheduling options. Feel free to bring up any questions you may have about counseling at this time.
2. What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel a session ahead of the scheduled time. Cancellations may be arranged via phone or email. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if there is a no-show, the full session fee will be applied.
3. What is your fee and how do I pay?
The first session is a 55 minute intake session, billed at $125, where we will review your intake paperwork, discuss expectations for therapy, and begin exploring your goals. This session also allows me to process and organize essential information after we meet, ensuring I can formulate a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.
All follow up sessions are 50 minutes in length and are billed at $100 per session. In certain situations, extended sessions may be suggested or requested based on your specific needs. Payment can be processed using a credit or debit card via Stripe or IvyPay a secure, HIPAA-compliant electronic payment method through a card kept on file.
4. How long are sessions and how often do I meet with you?
The first session is 55 minutes and each session after is 50 minutes. However, longer sessions may be suggested or requested based on your needs. The frequency of sessions will depend on both your needs and availability. Initially, I recommend starting with weekly appointments, which can be adjusted to more frequent sessions or biweekly meetings, depending on your unique circumstances. Most clients engage in therapy for an average of 8 to 12 weeks, though this varies according to the complexity and intensity of their concerns.
5. What can I expect in the first session?
The initial session focuses on establishing our connection and familiarizing ourselves with one another. We will go over the practice consent forms, intake packet, explore your counseling goals, and address any questions you may have.
6. Who has access to my information?
Your information remains strictly confidential, accessible only to you, your clinician, and your clinicians’ professional supervisor (a requirement as an associate), including demographic details, documents, session notes, and payment records.
However, there are certain circumstances in which disclosure may be required: if you request that your information be released, if a court mandates disclosure related to your care, or if concerns arise regarding your safety or the safety of others. Additionally, in the event that your clinician becomes incapacitated or passes away, a designated licensed professional has been appointed to manage your case, ensuring a seamless transition and uninterrupted support for your therapeutic journey.
7. What is your style or approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy is rooted in a deep respect for each individual’s unique identity and experiences, embracing a holistic perspective that honors the powerful connection between mind and body. I am committed to providing a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where clients from all backgrounds—including diverse cultural, LGBTQ+, and disability communities—feel understood and valued. My work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help shift unhelpful thought patterns, self-awareness practices to explore thoughts and emotions, and solution-focused techniques for setting goals and achieving positive change. I also encourage movement as a healing practice, guiding clients to listen to their bodies and recognize how physical sensations often reflect emotional states. Through this compassionate, inclusive, and holistic approach, I support clients in building self-understanding and nurturing wellness in both mind and body.
8. How do I set up an appointment?
Arranging an appointment is simple. It starts with an initial consultation call with your clinician, allowing us to discuss your needs, ask questions, and schedule your first session. Future appointments will be coordinated directly with your clinician at the close of each session. To book a consultation call, please click the link below.
Water Wellness
1. What is Water Wellness, and how is it different from traditional swim instruction?
Water Wellness at Dive Counseling and Wellness is a therapeutic approach to water-based learning and healing. Unlike traditional swim instruction, it’s not just about technique — it’s about care, understanding, and personal growth. Through intentional, individualized support, clients are guided to feel safe, empowered, and connected in the water.
2. Can Water Wellness help if I or my child have a fear of water (aquaphobia)?
Yes. Water Wellness is designed to gently support individuals of all ages who experience fear or anxiety around water. Whether it’s you or your child, we use a trauma-informed, therapeutic approach to create a safe, affirming environment that builds trust, confidence, and comfort — one step at a time.
3. Do I need to know how to swim to participate in Water Wellness?
Not at all! Water Wellness is designed for all comfort levels — including those with no swimming experience. Sessions are thoughtfully tailored to meet you or your child where you are, with a focus on emotional safety, trust-building, and gentle progression. There’s no pressure to perform, only support to grow.
4: What kind of clients benefit from Water Wellness services?
Water Wellness is ideal for both adults and children seeking confidence, healing, or a more connected relationship with water. It supports those working through fear, stress, or simply wanting a deeper mind-body connection.
I typically work with children ages 3 and up, but can assess readiness for younger children on a case-by-case basis. For little ones under 3, I offer “Mommy and Me” sessions, based on availability, to help parents gently prepare their child for future Water Wellness sessions.
5. How do Water Wellness sessions work, and what can I expect during the first session?
Each Water Wellness session is tailored to the individual’s needs, comfort level, and goals. During your first session, we’ll begin with a brief conversation to understand your history, current relationship with water, and intentions. From there, we’ll move gently into the water — focusing on safety, trust, body awareness, and fostering resiliency through supported exploration.
There’s no pressure to perform or progress quickly. Whether we stay poolside or move into guided movement, the pace is always set by you. Every session is a collaborative, supportive space designed to help you feel grounded, empowered, and at ease.
6: Is Water Wellness therapy or coaching?
Water Wellness is neither clinical therapy nor traditional coaching. It is a therapeutic, trauma-informed experience that draws from my professional background to support emotional safety, nervous system regulation, and personal growth — all in a water-based setting. While not a substitute for psychotherapy, it offers meaningful, embodied healing for those seeking a different kind of support.
7: Where are the sessions held, and is privacy ensured?
Water Wellness sessions are available to clients on the west side of Houston who have access to a private backyard pool. Being in your own environment allows for a more relaxed, discreet, and individualized experience. While community pools may be considered in certain cases, private settings are preferred to support comfort, focus, and intentional connection.
8: What is your cancellation policy for Water Wellness sessions?
Water Wellness sessions are booked month-to-month, with your preferred day and time reserved each week unless we arrange otherwise. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice.
At this time, there is no cancellation fee — thanks to the respectful communication I’ve consistently experienced with clients. I deeply value that trust and hope to continue this mutual understanding. As the practice grows, this policy may be updated to support sustainability and care.
If you or your child are feeling sick, please cancel your session. I work closely with many families and want to protect everyone’s health — including my own.
Weather-related cancellations are typically decided 30 minutes to an hour before your session. If poor weather is expected to last all day, I’ll notify you sooner. Your safety and comfort always come first.
